Closing & Reviews

Recent Track & Field events on Grand Bahama has highlighted a need for more focused efforts on developing our student athletes in the Field Events. While training and participation in the Jumping Events (High Jump, Long Jump and Triple Jump) has yielded world class Bahamian athletes, the Throwing events (Javelin, Shotput and Discus) has not experienced comparable success. This clinic will expose the participants to the basics of both the Jumping and Throwing events, a first step in building a more robust Field event culture on the Island.

Who will be coaching at the  Clinic?

Coach Pratt.jpg

Mr. Peter Pratt

Having successfully coached world renowned past and present athletes, Mr. Pratt continues to invest his energy and time in the youth of the Bahamas through coaching. Although Coach Pratt can also coach Track events, his focus is in assisting jumpers to improve and excel in their jump discipline of choice. He continues to strive to advance the mission of his Company, Jumpers Inc.: "Producing the World's best jumpers from 1984!!"

Mr. Nickito Johnson

For nearly 30 years, Coach Johnson has been executing his mission: assist athletes to higher education  through sports. From his start in 1996, Coach Johnson has coached college athletes, served on two National Teams and is presently coaching at the Highschool that has consecutively won the last 10 Grand Bahama Track & Field Championships, the most recent win in 2023. While Coach Johnson is certified by the IAAF to coach sprints, hurdles and throws, his love is the development of the jumping events.  By always keeping his mission in focus, Coach Johnson has had the privilege of seeing some of his former students excel at the collegiate level, such as All American title holders Damazvia Dames and Shyrone Kemp. With several more of his former students presently attending college due to their participation in Sports, Coach Johnson believes he his doing his part to build a better Bahamas through education and sports.

Mr. Caudell McNab

For more than 2 decades, Coach McNab has been making an impact in Track & Field on a local and national level. Not only has Coach McNab earned the title of BAAA Coach of the Year, but has been National Coach for Team Bahamas or a member of the Team Bahamas coaching staff as early as 1999. Coach McNab holds USATF, World Athletics and PANAM High Performance Coaching Certificates. Currently Mr. McNab is the Coach of the Invictus Athletics Track & Field Club on Grand Bahama.

Why should I attend the Clinic?

By attending this clinic, you will have the opportunity to get hands-on experience with both the Jump events (High-jump, Long-jump and Triple-jump) and Throwing events (Discus, Javelin and Discus) in Track & Field. You will learn the basic rules and form for each of these events and also learn proper warm-up and warm-down techniques.

Don't miss this opportunity to learn from experienced Bahamian coaches!!
